Manuscript Submissions

At East West Discovery Press, we believe every child deserves to see their language, culture, and experiences reflected in the books they read. Since 2000, we have been dedicated to publishing multicultural and bilingual children’s books that celebrate diverse voices, illuminate overlooked histories, and inspire meaningful conversations.
We are currently accepting submissions for PK–3 fiction and nonfiction picture books that meet at least two of the following criteria:
- Historical: Stories that explore significant historical events, figures, or lesser-known histories.
- Multicultural & Diverse: Stories that authentically represent diverse cultures, communities, identities, and experiences.
- Authentic Voices (#OwnVoices): Stories informed by the author’s lived experiences, cultural background, or community connections.
- Bilingual & Multilingual: Stories that celebrate language diversity, bilingualism, or multilingual learning.
- Social Justice: Stories that encourage empathy, inclusion, equity, civic awareness, and critical thinking.
- Curriculum-Aligned: Fiction or nonfiction that supports early childhood education, literacy, social studies, history, or other elementary curriculum objectives.
We especially welcome stories that introduce young readers to underrepresented perspectives and experiences.
Please note: Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, we are unable to review or respond to materials that do not align with our publishing focus.
Submission Guidelines
To help us give your work thoughtful consideration, please follow these guidelines:
- Email submissions only. We do not accept printed manuscripts or physical artwork.
- Submit your complete manuscript as an email attachment. Illustrators may submit sample artwork or a portfolio for consideration.
- Include your contact information, including your full name, email address, and phone number.
- Include a brief introduction describing your book, its intended audience, and how it aligns with our publishing mission.
- Literary representation: If you are represented by a literary agent, please include their name and contact information.
- Review timeline: Our editorial review process may take up to three months. We kindly ask that you refrain from calling or emailing to inquire about your submission status.
We appreciate the time, creativity, and care that go into every manuscript. However, due to the volume of submissions, we will contact only those authors or illustrators whose work we are interested in pursuing. If you have not heard from us within three months, please consider your submission declined.
We do not provide manuscript critiques, editorial feedback, or confirmation of receipt.
