Description
Germain, the laborer, his son, Little Pierre, and Marie, the shepherdess, leave their village together. Germain, a widower for several years, leaves reluctantly to find a new wife to take care of his children. As for Marie, she leaves to take a job as a shepherdess at the Ormeaux’s farm, far from her family. Both are worried about what fate has in store for them. Little Pierre, Germain’s oldest son, is the only one who is confident and happy to be alive. His father’s future and that of the shepherdess are going to depend on him.
